Sultanate targets over 11 million tourists by 2040

Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) - the operational arm of the Sultanate for the development of the tourism sector – celebrated the launch of commercial identity for the national travel operator '' in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

VisitOman is the first integrated digital platform for serving and trading customers in the travel and tourism sector in the Sultanate in line with the National Tourism Strategy 2040 and the tourism distribution strategy.

Ministry of Heritage and Tourism organised a ceremony marking the launch, while Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, graced the occasion.

In his speech he said, “The '' is an ambitious promotion initiative aiming to make Oman one of the competitive destinations by virtue of its competitive advantages. The platform will digitise the tourism chain and link travel and tourism institutions in the Sultanate and consumers. '

Al Mahrouqi added that the platform is expected to play role in enhancing the Sultanate's vision of raising the domestic and international investment rate in the tourism sector, down to attracting 11.7 million tourists by 2040, of whom 5 million would be international tourists.

Mohammed bin Salem al Busaidy, Chairman of Omran Group, said: 'The launch of the platform is an important step for Omran to achieve its vision through investment in the value-added series of the tourism sector through the implementation and activation of the distribution strategy aiming at increasing inbound tourism numbers from various regional and international markets.”

He stressed that the platform came in line with the group's efforts to develop the sector by establishing sustainable projects contributing to economic diversification.

The National Travel and Tourism Platform '' aims to strengthen the Sultanate’s position in international travel and tourism markets by linking Omani travel and tourism providers actively with trading customers in targeted markets. This is done through influencing the sales-oriented to the Sultanate via alignment of business partners’ incentives which contributes to raising the quality of tourist spending for tourists in the Sultanate.

The platform will be enabled via digital solutions and advanced technology in the Sultanate dynamically and attractively. It will be linked to the value-added series of travel and local tourism that includes: aviation, accommodation facilities (hotels), transportation, tourist destinations, tourist experiences of various kinds, restaurants and other tourist products.

At this stage, registration will be available to partners in the travel and tourism sector in international markets, as well as Omani organisations operating in tourism, including Omani tourist service providers, destination management companies, as well as new tourism providers in the market and who haven’t had the opportunity to compete in International markets to expand their business.
