MHUP to charge RO100 for registration of property in Sorouh projects

August 2, 2022

Muscat – The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) will charge RO100 for transfer and registration of each real estate unit located within integrated residential neighbourhood projects (Sorouh).

A ministerial decision (No 156/2022) was issued to this effect on Monday, amending some fees and service charges collected by the ministry.

The first article of the decision stipulated that a new clause (No 16) is added to Annex No 6 regarding fees for registration and documentation of property and request for proof of ownership of real estate located within integrated residential neighbourhood projects.

The Sorouh initiative was launched in 2019, providing citizens comfortable and affordable housing. The project aims to provide alternatives in order to reduce the demand for land by citizens.

Sorouh projects feature modern living standards and services, green spaces, large public parks, sports grounds, mosques, healthcare facilities and commercial centres.

The ministry is currently expanding Sorouh projects by offering three new sites with more than 4,000 housing units.

“Work is on to offer ten more sites in several governorates in 2022,” H E Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, stated in an address to Majlis A’Shura in June.
