Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) signed an agreement with Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) to supply ventilators for low-income and social security patients, worth OR50,000 on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by H E Dr Fatima Mohammed al Ajmi, MoH’s Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial, and Planning Affairs, and OMIFCO’s manager of Corporate Sustainability and Communication Eng Khalid al Fannah al Araimi.

H E Dr Fatima emphasised the significance of public and private sector partnerships, praising OMIFCO’s initiative in funding the purchase of home-care ventilators for low income and social security patients.

Araimi stressed the company’s commitment to activating partnership and cooperation with government institutions as part of its CSR to serve the development of the country, including health services provided to citizens in the sultanate.

He pointed out that health and safety are among OMIFCO’s community investments strategy programme to effectively support initiatives that have positive impact on the Omani society.

He added that ventilators represent an addition to the health services provided by the MoH’s Respiratory Care section of the Directorate General of Specialized Medical Care.

The initiative induces a positive impact by reducing patients’ long stay in the hospitals and reserving the intensive or critical care unit beds for those most in need. ‘Additionally these devices can reduce likelihood of infections transmission in hospitals among admitted patients, stated MoH.
