PDO constructs multi-purpose hall in Izki

Muscat – Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) officially opened a multi-purpose hall in the wilayat of Izki on Monday in an event held under the auspices of H H Sayyid Kamil bin Fahad al Said, Assistant Secretary General for the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Council of Ministers.

The 1,500sqm hall is located within the Izki Cultural Complex and includes a reception, lobby, an attached hall of 200sqm and a theatre that can accommodate more than 700 people equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment.

It also has the latest educational and training facilities for lectures and workshops. The multi-purpose hall will support cultural and social activities in the wilayat and its surrounding areas.

Abdul-Amir bin Abdul-Hussein al Ajmi, director of external affairs and value creation at PDO, said, “These community projects are an embodiment of our endeavour to make our projects diversified and touch the various needs of the citizen – social, training, health, economic and others. On the other hand, we are keen to ensure that its benefits extend to all members of the community, whether inside or outside our concession area. All of this is in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals and the priorities of Oman Vision 2040. The project is also in line with the ninth goal of the United Nations related to strengthening the infrastructure of society.”

The multi-purpose hall is part of PDO’s Social Investment Programme which aims to contribute to the sustainable development of Omani communities and to address their specific needs through a variety of different projects executed in co-operation with government and non-government bodies.
