Muscat – Muscat International Airport welcomed the first flight of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a low-cost airline based in United Arabs Emirates, with a customary water salute on Sunday.

The carrier will fly three flights a week on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday between Muscat International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Oman Airports expressed its pleasure with Wizz Air operating direct flights to Muscat.

Since the opening of the new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport, Oman Airports said it has ‘been seeking to attract regional and international airlines that is reflected in the growing demand by both passengers and airlines at Muscat airport’.

It said the Muscat-Abu Dhabi route is of great advantage for people who need to travel either for business or tourism purposes.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is a fast growing carrier with a fleet of 141 Airbus A320 and A321. It also offers premium services extended by a specialised aviation team at lower costs, which makes Wizz Air the preferred option for 40mn passengers a year.

It has been recently ranked by airlineratings.com, the world’s only airline safety and product rating website, as one of the top ten safest airlines in the world.
