Oman’s gas consumption rises 11%

October 10, 2021

Muscat – Oman’s consumption of natural gas rose 10.9 per cent in the first eight months of 2021 compared to the same period of last year.

Total consumption of natural gas rose to 33,667mn cubic metres (mncm) during the January–August period of 2021 against 30,348mncm in the corresponding period of 2020.

The growth in total consumption was driven by increased natural gas demand in oilfields, power plants and industrial projects, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals’ figures released by NCSI showed.

Industrial projects recorded a total gas consumption of 19,421mncm in the first eight months of this year, which is 7.3 per cent higher as compared to 18,095mncm in 2020.
