Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning slams rumours about skyscrapers

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, on Monday, slammed rumours about allowing constructions of skyscrapers in Oman.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning followed up on the rumours about allowing construction of skyscrapers that were circulating on social media channels.

'The Ministry would like to clarify that it is currently working within the objectives of the medium-term financial balance plan related to initiatives to revitalize the real estate market on the project to allow the addition of upper floors in commercial residential buildings or what is known as vertical meters in accordance with the technical standards for urban planning and meet future needs.'

The statement said, ”Upon approval of the project, the Ministry will announce more details about the mechanism for implementing the decision.”

“The Ministry wishes to confirm that it is the official source for news and information related to the housing sector and urban planning and through official channels,” the statement added.
